The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has published a new opinion on July 3, 2026, regarding the renewal of genetically modified soybean FG72 for food and feed use. This opinion was prepared in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1829/2003 concerning genetically modified food and feed. The opinion was published on July 6, 2026, and the public consultation is open for one month, allowing all citizens to express opinions and comments on the opinion itself. The objective of this consultation is to collect feedback to assess the impact of soybean FG72 on the environment, human health, and animals. EFSA has initiated this procedure to ensure that soybean FG73 meets food safety and public health standards. The publication of the opinion and the public consultation are part of the decision-making process to decide whether soybean FG72 can be authorized for use in food and feed. The consultation is a crucial step to ensure that public opinions are considered in the evaluation and authorization process of genetically modified soybean FG72.
